The Alberta Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is seeking a qualified Associate Treasurer for Education to provide financial leadership, oversight, and support for the Alberta Conference School Division.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee school financial operations, including financial statements, budgets, reconciliations, and year-end procedures.
Coordinate annual internal and external school audits and provide ongoing auditor support.
Provide financial guidance and support to school Business Managers, administrators, boards, and finance committees.
Coordinate the annual school budgeting process and Alberta Education funding and reporting requirements.
Administer government grants, transportation funding, tax and donation receipts, and related regulatory reporting.
Ensure compliance with CRA, Alberta Education, GST, T3010, and other applicable financial requirements.
Support and administer financial systems (including Sage, ChurchPal, and Rycor), banking administration, grant applications, and other education finance functions (bookkeeping).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA designation or progress toward one is an asset.
Relevant experience in accounting, financial management, auditing, budgeting, or school finance.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency with accounting software (Sage), Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
High level of accuracy, confidentiality, professional judgment, and integrity.
Ability to work collaboratively with school leadership, auditors, and Conference administration.
Membership in good standing with the Seventh-day Adventist Church and commitment to its mission and values.
