Deer Lake School is an independent K-12 Seventh-day Adventist school located in Burnaby, BC. The school has just under 300 students, and 40 full-time or part-time staff. The mission of DLS is to be a Christ-centered community dedicated to the holistic growth of every learner.
This position will be under the direction of the Educational Support Services Coordinator, and will report to the principal. The successful candidate will help students thrive by providing effective an learning program and a safe, inclusive and caring environment.
Responsibilities will also include supervision of students from kindergarten through grade 7 to ensure their safety and well being at all times, and supporting the daily operation of the program before, during and after school, as needed.
Hours: Approximately 32-40 per week.
Salary: $27.29 per hour (plus benefits)
Responsibilities: Support students with IEP’s (Individualized Education Plans) or with diverse abilities, assist teacher with classroom management, working with individual students or groups, and maintaining a clean, safe, inclusive and effective classroom, and assist the classroom teacher with other tasks, as needed.
Qualifications: Responsible Adult Certificate or Education Assistant certification or Early Childhood Education certification preferred. Experience in education/youth work. Valid CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
Candidate must be a member in good standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
